These Are The Rules, Obey Them... Or Perish. Or Not, Whatever...
1| Be sure to check the title of a thread before joining.
Does it say [Open]? If it does, or there is nothing beside the title, it's open for anybody to join, as long as it is within reason; no faction member joining what is clearly a very secret meeting of their enemies. If there is a person's name beside the title, it's meant for that person and that person only. If you wish to join a thread such as this, be sure to ASK the creator of the thread via PM. It's considered inexcusable to join one of these threads without permission and if you do it enough times, your character will be suspended. When a thread is full, or you no longer wish to add more people, it's up to the creator to change the thread title from [Open] to [Closed].
If you crash a thread, these will be your consequences:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
2| Read a thread before joining it.
Suddenly jumping into things without reading or paying attention to what is going on is not acceptable. This can potentially disrupt the RP going on if two people are RPing in a private area, like a home, and you RP that you're entering a bar and ordering a drink right next to them. You would not like it if it was done to you, so don't do it to others.
Again, every time you ruin a thread with an irrelevant post there will be consequences:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
3| We use 3rd person for this RP site.
Using anything else just makes people confused and your post could be outright ignored or misread. If you want to contribute the utmost to your RP, or the thread of someone else, please use this way of writing.
4| How to give a post with quality.
RP between people is much like a dance. One leads and the other follows. Break down the other person's post and contribute by writing how your character responds to what is going on. The five senses are your best friend here. Hearing, sight, touch, taste, smell and the secret sixth; thought. Use them where you can. If you have only a small bit of time to post, don't. Wait until you can give the other people the right amount of attention. You'll only cheat yourself and them otherwise. Combining all these facets of writing, we expect a minimum posting level of 3oo words per post. It's not exactly novel length and will push some of our newer RP'ers to bigger and better heights.
Also, use CORRECT GRAMMAR. Every one who joins is no doubt educated to at least a third grade level, right? Good. Unless otherwise, you CAN use correct grammar, right? That is what we expect of you. It's not too much to ask is it? An exception to this rule would be dialog of course.
If you do not use correct grammar, the consequences will be as follows:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
5| Thread Hijacking.
This is when a person(s) join a thread and begin to post back and forth at a very quick rate, leaving the others in the thread pretty much out of what is going on. -DO NOT DO THIS-! Some people can not post as often as others and if you can not be patient, start a different thread with other people who can. There is more to this but that will have it's own section.
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
6| Post order is your friend.
Whenever in a thread with more then two people, assume Posting Order is in effect. Starting from the post creator and look to where the creator posts again, this will become the order. You wait until your turn. Anything else is very rude and will make people not want to RP with you. If you can't wait, start your own thread and keep it small. Also, do not hound people to post if you're waiting on them. It's going to make them not want to and that can cause problems all on it's own.
Non-combat posting has some small exceptions. If you gain permission to post out of order due to a player illness / holiday / whatever, then do so but try not to go more then a few posts without the missing players input. This does not apply to combat posts which must always maintain posting order.
If you post out of order, there will be consequences:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
7| Things going past PG-13.
Swearing and violence are allowed on this site but if it's going to be in huge amounts, or it's going to be very graphic and you know this, try to put it in the thread title. If you can, please try not to describe nudity or adult actions of that nature since we have players younger then eighteen. TS-ing (Otherwise known as Tiny Sex or Typing Sex) is not allowed here. If you wish to have such RP with another consenting adult, use E-mail or other media. If you do not, you will be banned. Last thing we need is a parent seeing what you're doing and getting on our case for your behavior. This rule also applies to the C-Box, so consequences will be followed if broken in the C-Box.
8| God Moding.
This is a general rule but it should also be covered here in etiquette as well since it involves RP. This is not acceptable; 'Rukia grabbed Ichigo by the throat and then tossed him out the open school window.' No-no big time! Do this instead: 'Rukia moved to grab Ichigo by the throat, with the intention to throw him out of the open school window.' This allows Ichigo's player to dodge if he wishes but if he allows it, he can also react to the throwing however he might want to.
-DO NOT DODGE EVERYTHING- Another big no, no. Everyone gets hit from time to time and so should you. Do not edit posts after the other person has attacked you either, so it sets you up to be able to dodge and such. You do this, you will have your character suspended first and banned for a repeat offense. This sort of behavior will not be tolerated and you must understand the seriousness of this rule.
God Moding includes but is not limited to the following:
- Declaring the damage of an action on another player. This includes attacks, counter-attacks, defenses and everything in that line. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION unless an agreement has been made between the players before hand that such posting of damage is allowed.
- Impossible-to-defend-against-attacks. This irks the hell out of the Staff. At lower ranks, fighters cannot and do not plot every single move of a battle 50 steps ahead. It is impossible and stupid to try. Fighting is a gritty, adrenaline filled experience and so defending against every maneuver with some miraculous, ‘I-planned-this-ten-moves-ago’ dodge or attacking with a ‘will-be-impossible-to-defend-against’ strike is just as God Moding as declaring your attack hit.
- Impossible feats of agility or skill, such as defying gravity, contorting to get out of blows and such are impossible for everyone, unless such a power has been taken that says otherwise. Don’t overplay your characters ability to perform such feats.
- Taking hits and not feeling the effects. Getting hit is one part of not being a God Modder. Affecting your ability to fight is the final half and the first without the other is just as bad as dodging everything.
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
9| No Flaming.
Flaming is the open discrimination of another person on this forum due to any reasons such as race, gender, religion, sexuality, the flamer just being a dick, etc. This rule also applies to the C-Box, so consequences will be followed if broken in the C-Box.
Depending on the severity of the flame, the consequences may vary.
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
10| No Baiting.
Baiting is what it is called when an individual purposefully tries to get another to flame them. This rule also applies to the C-Box, so consequences will be followed if broken in the C-Box.
Consequences are as follows:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
11| Respect the Staff.
Disrespect will not be tolerated on the site. The staff worked hard to make the site as you see it now and deserve a little bit of credit for all the blood, sweat and tears that they had to gush to create it. This rule also applies to the C-Box, so consequences will be followed if broken in the C-Box.
If you have a problem with the ruling of staff then PM them in a calm, open manner and address how you feel the situation was uncalled for or unfair. If the staff member still proceeds and explains their reason, then live with it. Further contact, or contact that is aggressive will be classed as disrespecting the staff decision and be responded to with the consequences as follows:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
12| Read the Help Files.
If you have a problem with your application or maybe you're confused about a certain race or Class there are help files that you can find throughout the site that can help you. This isn't really a rule with consequences but if you have something on your application that you're not supposed to have, then we'll tell you that you should have read the help files before applying.
13| Don't Plagiarize.
The staff of this site worked hard to bring the site to what it looks like today. We like being credited on our work. If you steal our work it means that you don't respect the time and effort that we put into the site. There is only one punishment for plagiarism.
First offense: Perma-ban
14| Don't Sexually Harass Others.
Please defer from doing so. We don't need to listen to other people complain about you as you say sexual things to them. If it’s consensual do so in a PM, otherwise it'll be punished just the same. This rule also applies to the C-Box, so consequences will be followed if broken in the C-Box.
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Severe Warning
Third Offense: One Day Ban
Fourth Offense: One Week Ban
Fifth Offense: Perma-ban
